HEC (Hydroxy Ethyl Cellulose) is a non-ionic cellulose derivative that exhibits easy dispersion and rapid dissolution in water. It serves a multifaceted role in various applications, imparting functions such as thickening, colloidal protection, enhancing construction properties, facilitating wetting, and maintaining product stability to ensure superior quality. This versatile substance boasts a high and uniform degree of substitution and excellent biostability, making it suitable for a wide range of uses, including stone-like paints, latex paints, additives for oil drilling, detergents, toothpaste, and more.
HEC has excellent thickening efficiency, color development, open time and excellent resistance to biodegradation. It also plays a role in emulsification, dispersion, stabilization and water retention. The coating has good rheological properties at different shear rates, and has good workability and leveling properties, good splash resistance and dent resistance.

1. Retarded hydroxycellulose can be directly added to the paint formula to form a uniform glaze solution. The time from powder wetting to complete dissolution is called hydration time. During this process, the solution increases its thickening capacity.
2. Temperature and PH value have influence on hydration time. Raising the pH to 8.0-10.0 shortens the time by 40-60%; increasing the temperature also shortens this time.
3. In general, we recommend adding hydroxycellulose at room temperature and neutral conditions, and the hydration time is about 25 minutes.
Jufu Chemical Hydroxyethyl Cellulose has good anti-mold properties, provides sufficient storage time for coatings, and effectively prevents the settling of pigments and fillers.
