What Do You Know About Water Reducers?


Water reducing agent is a kind of concrete admixture which can reduce the amount of water added while maintaining the slump of concrete. They are mostly anionic surfactants. After adding concrete mixture, it can disperse cement particles, improve its workability, reduce unit water consumption, and increase the fluidity of concrete mixture. Or reduce the unit cement consumption, save cement.

By appearance:

It is divided into water and powder type. Water-based solid content is generally 10%, 20%, 40%(also known as mother liquor), 50%, powder solid content is generally 98%.

 

Based on the ability to reduce water and increase strength:

It is divided into ordinary water reducing agent (also known as plasticizer, water reducing rate is not less than 8%, represented by lentisulfonate), high efficiency water reducing agent (also known as high efficiency water reducing agent, water reducing rate is not less than 14%, including naphthalene series, melamine series, sulfamate series, aliphatic series, etc.) and high performance water reducing agent (water reducing rate is not less than 25%, represented by polycarboxylic acid series water reducing agent). It can be divided into early strength type, standard type and slow setting type.

 

According to the constituent material:

Lignosulfonate, polycyclic aromatic salt, water-soluble resin sulfonate, naphthol superplasticizer, aliphatic superplasticizer, amino superplasticizer, polycarboxylate superplasticizer, etc.

 

Based on chemical composition:

Lignosulfonate superplasticizer, naphthalene superplasticizer, melamine superplasticizer, sulfamic acid superplasticizer, fatty acid superplasticizer, polycarboxylate superplasticizer.

 

The role of water reducer:

1. Without changing the ratio of various raw materials (except cement) and the strength of concrete, the amount of cement can be reduced.

2. Under the premise of not changing the ratio of various raw materials (except water) and the slump of concrete, reducing the amount of water can greatly improve the strength of concrete.

3. Without changing the ratio of various raw materials, the rheology and plasticity of concrete can be greatly improved, so that concrete construction can be carried out by gravity, pumping, vibration-free, etc., improving the construction speed and reducing the construction energy consumption.

4. Adding high efficiency water reducing agent to concrete can more than double the service life of concrete, even if the normal service life of the building is more than doubled.

5. Reduce the shrinkage rate of concrete solidification and prevent cracks in concrete components; Improve frost resistance, conducive to winter construction.
